CoolSculpting

Sometimes unwanted areas of fat stick around despite your best efforts. Whether it stubbornly hangs around on your thighs, abdomen, back, or even beneath your chin, that excess fat belies the hard work you’re doing in the gym. CoolSculpting is an easy way to say farewell to that fat once and for all — without surgery, anesthesia, or even an incision. At Peachtree Dermatology Associates, we’re pleased to offer CoolSculpting in Atlanta to help women and men put the finishing touches on their contours.

We invite you to explore what CoolSculpting can do for you. Request a consultation online, or call us at (404) 355-1919 to set up your appointment.

CoolSculpting Before & After Photos

How Does It Work?

The CoolSculpting device uses a patented technology called Cryolipolysis® to target, freeze, and ultimately trigger the breakdown of fat cells. CoolSculpting works because fat cells naturally freeze at a higher temperature than other tissues. This makes the procedure safe for skin, muscle, and other surrounding tissues.

Once the fat cells are frozen, they die a natural cell death and are broken down and metabolized by your body. Several applicators of various sizes and shapes are available for different parts of the body. The procedure doesn’t require an incision, needles, or anesthesia — simply sit back and relax in our office while CoolSculpting goes to work.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

You may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting if you’re in overall good health and are not significantly overweight. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss procedure; rather, it selectively reduces localized areas of excess fat to “sculpt” new contours. It’s particularly effective on certain areas of fat:

  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Flanks
  • Abdomen
  • Under the chin
  • Back (“bra bulge”)

In some cases, another option may be better suited for you. For example, if you’re primarily concerned by laxity around your chin and jawline rather than fat, Kybella is a good nonsurgical option. During your initial consultation here at Peachtree Dermatology Associates, your practitioner helps you determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.

What Can I Expect?

The CoolSculpting procedure is completely noninvasive and performed here in our clinic. During your treatment, your practitioner attaches the CoolSculpting applicator to your body with gentle suction. As the device begins working, you experience a sensation of intense cold. However, your treatment area goes numb within a few minutes.

In order to work properly, the CoolSculpting device must operate at its prescribed temperature for about an hour. During this time, you can relax, hop online to catch up on email, or read peacefully, all in your private treatment room.

How Will I Look?

After your appointment, the treated area will look red and swollen, although this is normal. You may experience some lingering achiness or discomfort that spills over into the next day, but you should feel up to returning to your regular activities as soon as your treatment is over.

It takes some time, typically several weeks or months, for the treated cells to disappear. Once they do, you’ll likely notice a reduction in fat in the areas that were treated. Your clothes may fit better, and you’ll certainly feel more confident with fewer bulges and fat deposits.

Depending on your results, you may opt to have more than 1 CoolSculpting treatment. Your practitioner will talk to you further about your options.
